Other popular tourist sites include: Osho Ashram located in Koregaon Park; Shinde Chhatri, a memorial dedicated to the 18th-century military leader Mahadji Shinde; and the Pataleshwar Cave Temple, an ancient temple dating back to the 8th century during the Rashtrakuta period.
Mahabaleshwar is the most popular hill station situated on the western ghats in Maharashtra. It is a beautiful town on Deccan plateau bound by green valleys from all the side. Mahabaleshwar was the summer capital of the Bombay Presidency in the colonial times and is famous for strawberry plantations. Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj constructed the pratapgarh fort near Mahabaleshwar. Mahabaleshwar is very popular holiday destination among the people of Mumbai, Pune and other towns of Maharashtra because of its easy accessibility, beautiful views and nice weather through most of the year with evergreen forest surrounding the town. Tourists come here to spend some quality time away from the city doing siteseeing of attractive locations spread around, nature walk and boating in the Venna lake apart from excursion to nearby pratapgarh fort and waterfalls.
